Young Adults: A Conversation With Crossed Wires

Crossed Wires’ eponymous EP could easily take the cake as the best release to come out of Atlantic Canada this past summer season. This debut offering from the Wires is nothing less than infectious and impressive without even considering the fact that it’s the first release of a project that’s only straddling a mere six months of existence. Despite being their earliest effort, the EP carries an audible chemistry that could be mistaken for a band that’s already seen the process a few times over.

Checking In With London Above

The band’s name comes from a British TV series created by Neil Gaiman, called Neverwhere. The series is set in “London Below” which is a magical realm that co-exists with the real world “London Above”.

You can catch London Above on October 10th at MUN’s campus bar, The Breezeway. Or almost anywhere else in downtown St. John’s where live music is played.

Evan Mumford On Why Television Zombie by OUTTACONTROLLER is Perfect

1) Television.
2) Girlfriend.
3) Quitting a job.

These three pop punk tropes are examples of why pop punk can be the greatest genre or the absolute worse. Tropes #1 and #3 aren’t so much troublesome as they are tired; it’s #2 that is the problem child. This is where pop punk straddles the line of being charming & romantic and creepy & sexist. You show me Jawbreaker’s “Want” and I’ll flash Screeching Weasel’s “I Don’t Wanna Be Friends.”
