Contributor Kerri Claire joined the St. John’s Trans March last weekend as transgender people and allies came out to highlight the important and unaddressed issues that are specific to the trans community.
Marching in the steps of hundreds of thousands, people of all genders will be rallying on June 14 at 2:00pm at Harbourside Park, St. John’s to speak out about Canada’s victim-blaming culture and the sexual violence it perpetuates.
“What they said is “I don’t want to see bra straps, I don’t want to see your underwear girls.” Mya Bixby chimed in, “Nothing else for the guys. Guys go around showing their butts out of their pants and that’s completely ok.” Cindy agreed, “There’s one guy who takes off his shirt everyday and no one really talks to him about it.”
