The word hacker has a lot of negative connotations surrounding it — this is due in part to the media’s portrayal of hacking, and a striking lack of knowledge on the behalf of the general public. ProtoShed is a hackerspace in St. John’s, Newfoundland who’s running theme is ‘imagine – make – share.’ Such a motto is certainly a far cry from the image of the keyboard cowboy crammed down the throats of society by television, film and sensationalist news outlets.
