Paul Rebar showcases another set of captures featuring BADBADNOTGOOD, The WAYO, Thugli, Willie Stratton & The Boarding Party, and comedian Jen Kirkman at HPX 2014.
Amongst the bouncing around between shows, which could be any given night of Halifax Pop Explosion, we were lucky enough to have a few busy sets of hands scrambling from venue to venue to help take in as much of the festival as possible. On
After their HPX set at the CDKU FM lobby on Dalhousie’s campus, I caught up with Paul (drums) and Chad (guitar/vocals) of Kestrels to chat about their HPX experience, recent tour dates and the progress of their upcoming album.

Gabrielle Gallant brings us some wonderful captures from the lobby of CKDU FM, Gus’s Pub and Reflections Cabaret at Halifax Pop Explosion 2014.
Gabrielle’s gallery features the likes of Kestrels, Solids, Swearin’, Cousins, HAG FACE, Hand Cream, Brave Radar, Soft Spot and PS I Love You.
This year’s lineup could easily be considered one of the strongest in the festivals’ history. Having attracted acts like party-rap icon Danny Brown; hip-hop goliaths Ghostface Killah and Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan; Canadian indie-rockers Tokyo Police Club, the influential folk-punk band Against Me!, and a fantastic array of talent from Halifax, New Brunswick, PEI and beyond — it’s clear that the folks behind the scenes aren’t interested in maintaining the status quo.
