John Dunsworth, the Nova Scotia actor best known as Sunnyvale trailer park supervisor Jim Lahey on Trailer Park Boys, has passed away at the age of 71.

The actor’s daughter, Sarah Dunsworth, announced the loss of her father following “a short and unexpected illness” in the following statement on Twitter:

Aside from John Dunsworth’s notorious work on Trailer Park Boys, the Bridgewater-born performer’s repertoire also includes extensive theatre work, a reoccurring role in the series Haven, as well as an underdog run in provincial politics for the Nova Scotia NDP as documented in the 1988 short film John Dunsworth: The Candidate.

John Dunsworth will portray Jim Lahey one last time in the 12th season of Trailer Park Boys which is airs on Netflix in 2018.
