Kestrels stopped by the basement studio of Suvla Estates to play a few tracks from of their newest release The Moon is Shining Our Way and indulge us with some of the band’s recent happenings. The last year has been a busy one for Kestrels; releasing their latest [and aforementioned] EP on Sonic Unyon, recording with Alex Bonenfant at The Dream House and beginning work on the upcoming third LP.
Secret East is thrilled to announce our first comic series which will feature every week for the month of October.
Just in time for the Halloween season, we will be bringing you Blood Cove – a fine creation by St. John’s artist Ricky King.
Blood Cove, where everybody knows each others’ business. Or at least they thinks they do.

This edition of In Case You Missed It offers some great contributions to help recap the weekend of September 19th-21st in NL, and preview some photographic content set to be published later this week.
Featuring captures from the Take Back The Night March, The Ceebs Skate Competition, and live sets from Monsterbator, The Beer Patrice and Werewoman.
We were lucky enough to spend some time with Kestrels (Toronto, ON) on their recent visit to St. John’s and capture a solid live session with the trio within the walls of Suvla Estates.
We at Secret East are reaching out to you to share a capture (picture, video, blurb etc.) from any event or occurrence you happen to catch in Atlantic Canada for a chance to have your contribution published on the site. To celebrate the announcement of this segment we will be holding a Secret Giveaway. Any submission featured on the site will be entered in a draw to win a gift basket of solid Atlantic Canadian loot.

We wanted to extend a gracious thank-you for all the feedback and communication we’ve been engaged with while testing the waters over the last month. In return, we wanted to extend a promise and commitment to continue to do our damnedest to hunt down Atlantic Canada’s best kept secrets.
Trust us folks: it’s all good stress, and we’re having a blast doing it.
