An A/V Guide to the Out of Earshot Schedule

There has been a buzz in the air since the announcement of Out of Earshot, the newest music and arts festival to liven up the St. John’s summer schedule. After much anticipation stirring within the community, Out of Earshot is ready to launch its inaugural edition this week from August 23rd-25th at various venues in downtown St. John’s.

A non-profit gala of independent and DIY art is a fresh breath of air for a city that relies heavily on the stuffy agenda of “same old” nostalgia acts and sure draw booking engagements to fill its summer catalog.

“Out of Earshot sees the beauty of creating art in a city as unique as St. John’s, off the beaten path of the Canadian festival circuit” the festival states. “Through this celebration of DIY art and culture we hope to foster cross-provincial connections between local and visiting artists and showcase the unknown and unheard gems that this city and country have to offer.”

To help navigate the diverse lineup of new and emerging eastern Canadian bands and artists set to comprise Out of Earshot’s shows, workshops, installations and presentations, we decided to do our own rundown of the festival itinerary in the form of an Audio/Video primer for your artistically adventurous week in St. John’s.
