London Lightning Strike Down Halifax Hurricanes for Third NBL Championship
It may not have been the ending that the NBL Atlantic Division champions were looking for, but the Halifax Hurricanes certainly have nothing to be ashamed of with their hard fought best-of-seven series loss to the London Lightning in the NBL Canada Championship finals.
The Lightning took the series 4-2 with a 129-116 win over the ‘Canes on Monday night at Budweiser Gardens in London. The Central Division champs took on the Atlantic Division champs for the second year in a row in the National Basketball League of Canada Championship finals, but Halifax failed to repeat the results of their 2016 victory.
The London Lightning are now 3 time NBL champions since the league’s debut in 2011, and last night’s victory marks a triumphant end to an incredibly impressive 46-7 season.
